In 1991 Liz's aunt K died aged 87, our neighbour Mrs Earle reached 100 and died soon afterwards and Ray Barber passed away. He sang tenor at St Chad's well into his 80s. Once when visiting Mrs Earle in Mayday she wanted me to take her home - they're all brain dead in here. The same happened when she went to a nursing home! She never had glasses or hearing aid and swore by a glass of whisky every night! David Palmer's "Holy boy" had been a great success at the Fairfield Hall in 1990 and I helped prepare the St Chad's school contingent. In 1991 they sang carols at Sainsbury's and raised £240 for Romania. The other Sainsbury's carol singing (just us) raised £125 for leukaemia research. I organised a very successful Croydon RC deanery music day with Andrew Wright from Brentwood and Martin How and it was planned to repeat this in Nov.
